Hello All,
I am new to the LeftHand networks products and so far love them. We'd like to incorporate them into our new ESX infrastructure but have many questions in terms of the setup. I am fairly familiar with ESX as of about a year ago.
We want to design an infrastructure with the following...
2 ESX Hosts
use VSA to share storage between the two
ESX will host many VM's including
Exchange 2007
SQL
Several other Windows Servers
Before I get into any further details my initial questions are
Do I have to purchase the VSA for each ESX host (so 2 in total)
and
Do the two servers need to be identical.
Thanks!

VSA are licensed individually. So to your particular question, you do need to buy two of them.
The physical hardware does not have to be identical but mixing drastically different systems leads to unpredictable performance.
i.e.
Mixing one Dell 2950 and one HP DL380 in the same cluster is no problem if both have 6 drive SAS in RAID 5.
Mixing one Dell 1950 and one Dell 2950 in the same cluster would work but if the 1950 has only 2 drives and the 2950 has 6 then performance will be affected by the slower 2 drive system.
Hope that helps.
