is there a means to upgrade the SanIQ software in a VSA?

Yes, you just need to right click the node (or nodes) in the UI and select install software, then browse to an upgrade package.

I think the only upgrade available right now (6-2008) for VSA is SAN/iQ 7 SP1 (7.0.01.6046).
