In trying to install my first VSA I have come up with some questions. The manual instructs to use scsi:1, but it is already used. I tried scsi:2. But it only lets me max at 256GB. This can't be right?
Also, once it is set up how to I get into the VSA console. I don't seem to be picking up an IP address on the interface for the Virtual Switch I assigned.

| I think you are looking at the wrong digit. SCSI 0:1 and 0:2 should already be taken by the VSAs boot disks. You need to configure it as SCSI 1:0 as the manual says.. 1:0 not 0:1 As for network configuration you'll have to supply more information. Are you trying to assign a static IP address or use DHCP?

Thanks Adam. You are correct. What about the max size of the hard drive. It still seems to not want anything larger than 256GB.
I have tried static. But, I can't find a place to enter an address anywhere. The first nic I configured asked me for the address. The aux 2-port card I put in does not.

I got the IP address issue resolved Adam. Sorry. But, I still can't get more than 256GB assigned to the VMs 1:0. I have 750 available in Storage, but can't it all on one virtual disk...

The SAN is up and running! I attached to it from my Vista workstation. But, I still haven't figured out has to have a volume larger than 250 GB?

I saw the post about block sizes afterwards. I think I am good.

Glad you found the help in that other post. I'm linking it here just so others who follow your path can find it too.
Topic: Q&A - 256 GB drive limitation in ESX?
Basically the default formatting of a datastore only allows for a 256GB vmdk file. If you want bigger you have to re-format the datastore.
